The importance of diversity

Interracial Family The Billups Family

.) What does diversity mean to you? People from different ethnic backgrounds meeting each other & coming together at multicultural events at church, work, school, traveling, etc.

.) Do you like multicultural food at these events? Yes.

.) Are you for interracial marriage (married couples of the opposite sex that are from different ethnic backgrounds)? Yes.

.) You observe a lot whether at church, school, work, traveling, etc., at the different events. What do you like or dislike with what you see at these events? I enjoy going to a lot of different events because it is healthy getting to meet people from different backgrounds & getting to know them. With that being said no matter how much they have events like these the thing that I dislike is that there are always some people who are prejudice (judging someone before you know who they are who are from a different skin color from you).

.) Why do you think that there are people who are prejudice in a diverse society? Not everyone was taught how to love & treat people who are from a different race from them the same. In my humble opinion, you don't have to grow up around people who are of a different race from you to know that you should treat them the same way you would treat your friends who are of the same race as you are.

.) Do you think that the church is less diverse than it were back then? With the division that is going on in a lot of churches, there are some Christians attention being divided to the point where he or she is wrestling with trying to please God & please the world. Churches are having what is known as cliques (people who hang with a group of people because they are popular, cool, and who he or she want to be a part of) and that kind of influence is making the church look less diverse.

.) You have visited a lot of churches can you tell the difference between the ones that are more diverse and the ones that are less diverse? Denominational churches tend to be less diverse. Non Denominational churches tend to be more diverse.

.) Name a church or churches that you have visited out of state that is more diverse. Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, OK & Greenwood Christian Center in Downtown Tulsa.

.) Name a church or churches that you have visited out of state that is less diverse. Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN.

.) Why do you think that churches that are more diverse is more multicultural than churches that are less diverse and is more non multicultural? Multicultural churches tend to have a pastor or pastors who are diverse & that is the reason why people from different ethnic backgrounds are in those kind of churches. Also, we see interracial married couples attend those kind of churches. Non multicultural churches tend to have a pastor or pastors who are not as diverse & that is why we see people from mainly the same ethnic background in those kind of churches. If there are people of a different background (which don't be that often) the pastor or pastors try to impress him or her by using slang, brag or boast about what their church is doing (about works), or try to impress him or her with their preaching to try to recruit members.

.) Do you think that all Denominational churches are less diverse than Non Denominational churches? No.

.) Do you think that all Non Denominational churches are more diverse than Denominational churches? No.

.) Why do think that not all Denominational churches are less diverse than Non Denominational churches? Not everyone who are in Denominational churches are impressed by the things that the pastor or pastors do to try to get members in a church. He or she is not about trying to fit in with lukewarm Christians who hang with a group of people just because they think that they are cool and not everyone in Denominational churches is prejudice.

.) Why do you think that not all Non Denominational churches are more diverse than Denominational churches? Not everyone who are in Non Denominational churches are saved & a born again Christian. There are some Christians who say that they are saved is not all about diversity. It is sad to say but there are some Christians who wrestle with race issues & unless he or she heart changes they are going to be prejudice. God is the only one that change anyone heart who is prejudice.

.) What would you like to see in both Denominational and Non Denominational churches? An atmosphere of fellowship with people of different ethnic backgrounds of nothing but them loving on one another, encouraging one another, and setting an example for others to follow by being a light unto the world.
